Former NFL quarterback McNair killed

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP)—Former NFL quarterback who led the famous ’ drive that came a yard short of forcing overtime in the 2000 Super Bowl, was found dead Saturday with multiple gunshot wounds, including one to the head. Police said a pistol was discovered near the body of a woman also shot dead in a downtown condominium.
Nashville police spokesman Don Aaron identified the woman as 20-year-old Sahel Kazemi, whom he called a “friend” of McNair’s. She had a single gunshot wound to the head.
Police said the 36-year-old McNair was found on the sofa in the living room, and Kazemi was very close to him on the floor. Aaron said the gun was not “readily apparent” when police first arrived.
Autopsies were planned for Sunday.
Aaron said McNair’s wife, Mechelle, is “very distraught.”
“At this juncture, we do not believe she is involved,” he said. “Nothing has been ruled out, but as far as actively looking for a suspect tonight, the answer would be no.”

Sad news for Rocket fans..

By Adrian Wojnarowski

As the NBA draft approached, the grim truth about Yao Ming’s(notes) broken left foot hung like an anvil over the Houston Rockets. The fear isn’t that he’s just lost for next season, but longer.

The Rockets and Yao’s reps are frightened over his future, and the concern is the most base of all: Does Yao Ming ever play again?

“The realization has hit them that this is grave,” one NBA general manager said.

For now, the Rockets have privately told league peers it could be a full season before Yao might be able to return to basketball. Multiple league executives, officials close to Yao and two doctors with knowledge of the diagnoses are describing a troubling re-fracture of his navicular bone. Three pins were inserted a year ago, but the foot cracked in the playoffs and isn’t healing.

“It sounds like he’s missing most of next season, if not the entire 82 games,” one league executive who has had recent discussions with the Houston front office told Yahoo! Sports. “That’s all that [the Rockets] will concede quietly, but they know it’s probably much worse.”

Michael Jackson mother files for children & estate..

By Associated Press

Michael Jackson's mother asked a Superior Court judge on Monday to name her administrator of her late son's estate so she can ensure the King of Pop's three children are its beneficiaries.

The court filing states that Jackson's parents believe he died without a valid will.

Supporting Katherine Jackson in her petition bid to administer the estate was Jackson's father, Joe Jackson.

The court documents state that Katherine Jackson "intends to marshal assets of the decedent for the exclusive use of the decedent's three children — her grandchildren — after payment of debts and expenses of administration."

Earlier, Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff granted Katherine Jackson's request to assume temporary guardianship of her son's children but did not immediately rule on her request to administer their estate.

Beckloff scheduled hearings for July 6 and Aug. 3 to take up the matters, including whether to also approve a request by Jackson to become permanent guardian of her son's children

Very sad but beautiful Moment..

Lil Wayne Wins Big At Grammy's

By By Gil Kaufman

Lil Wayne, joined by New Orleans legend Allen Toussaint on boogie-woogie piano and Robin Thicke lending his sugary vocals, paid tribute to his hometown with the somber "Tie My Hands," as images of Hurricane Katrina unspooled on the screens above the stage. The raucous performance ended with the Dirty Dozen Brass Band and trumpet player Terence Blanchard playing a horn-blasted musical tribute to the Crescent City's jazz heritage, as Wayne scatted "feet don't fail me now, feet don't fail me now."

Waiting in the wings following his performance, Wayne, his jeans sagging, ran up on the stage to accept the Best Rap Album Grammy and kicked his heels together as he was joined by his daughter, members of his family and crew. "Thank God, thank New Orleans, thank these people you see right here, and thank you!" the clearly excited MC said, collecting his fourth Grammy of the night.

Chris Brown Turns Himself in...

By Access Hollywood

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Rihanna and Chris Brown have pulled out of the Grammy Awards following an alleged violent incident on Saturday night, Access Hollywood has learned.

The LAPD is currently investigating Brown for assault following an alleged domestic violence felony battery against an undisclosed woman at 12:30 AM on Sunday in Los Angeles.

Update, 7:15 PM: Brown has turned himself in, TMZ reported. According to the LA Times, the alleged assault was against Rihanna . The LAPD could not confirm either report.

According to the LAPD, the R&B singer and the woman were in a vehicle on North June St. in the Hancock Park area of LA, where the victim claims an argument occurred. Brown allegedly stopped the car and the woman suffered "visible injuries" and identified the singer as her attacker.

"Mr Brown is a suspect that we are looking for... we would definitely like to speak with him," a spokesperson for the LAPD told Access on Sunday evening.

When contacted by Access on Sunday night, a rep for Rihanna said that the singer was "well."

" Rihanna is well. Thank you for concern and support," the rep said.

A rep for Chris Brown did not return calls from Access.

"We have just been informed that Rihannawill not be attending tonight's 51st Annual GRAMMY Awards," a Grammy rep confirmed to Access late Sunday afternoon. "We're sorry she is unable tojoin us this evening."

The rep issued a similar statement regarding Brown later in the evening.

"We have just been informed that Chris Brown will not be attending tonight's 51st Annual GRAMMY Awards. We're sorry he is unable tojoin us this evening," the rep told Access.

On Saturday evening, the music couple walked the red carpet separately at the Grammy Salute to Industry Icons honoring Clive Davis at the Beverly Hilton, and were spotted smiling together inside the party.

Rihanna was set to perform and is nominated for three Grammys, while Brown is up for two awards at the ceremony.

Wanda Sykes says she's 'proud to be gay'

LAS VEGAS — Comedian Wanda Sykes says the passage of a same-sex marriage ban in California has led to her be more outspoken about being gay.

"You know, I don't really talk about my sexual orientation. I didn't feel like I had to. I was just living my life, not necessarily in the closet, but I was living my life," Sykes told a crowd at a gay rights rally in Las Vegas on Saturday.

"Everybody that knows me personally they know I'm gay. But that's the way people should be able to live their lives," she said.

Sykes, who is known for her feisty and blunt style, said the passage of California's Proposition 8 made her feel like she was "attacked."

"Now, I gotta get in their face," she said. "I'm proud to be a woman. I'm proud to be a black woman, and I'm proud to be gay."

Sykes' appearance at the Las Vegas rally surprised organizers. She was in town performing at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino.

Katt Williams under doctor’s care

The report quoted Sumter Police Department Maj. Perry Herod as confirming that police responded to a call about Williams on Friday morning at the Mount Vernon Inn.

“And officers did talk with him, and then my understanding is he went on his own to Tuomey Hospital,” Herod said, according to TheItem.com. The hospital would not provide any information on whether Williams was treated there, TheItem.com said.

MTV.com posted this statement from Williams’ spokesperson Yvette Shearer: “Following an arduous 300 shows and an 18-month touring schedule that left him incredibly fatigued, Katt, a veteran of MTV’s ‘Wild ‘N Out,’ felt compelled to be with his family in an effort to deal with his stress. While doing so, he is under a doctor’s care.”

Speculation that Williams’ behavior had become erratic intensified last month after he didn’t show for a scheduled appearance as host of the BET Hip-Hop Awards at the Atlanta Civic Center. Atlanta rapper T-Pain, who wound up filling in for Williams, said on the red carpet — and on the show — that he was called at 4 a.m. the morning of the show with the request to be Williams’ replacement.

That no-show led to a wild assortment of rumors — that Williams had lost the opportunity to host the show in a break-dance contest with T-Pain, that he had disappeared after a fight with his girlfriend, that he had been arrested. No one apparently ever confirmed any of the rumors.

The Atlanta episode was among a series of missed shows and rumors of bizarre behavior regarding Williams.

TheItem.com quoted Sumter attorney Garryl Deas as saying that Williams came to his office after his encounter with police. “He just said that he doesn’t trust anyone anymore,” Deas told TheItem.com. He said he thought “everyone has turned against him. He wasn’t really coherent.”

According to TheItem.com, Deas said Williams complained about rumors that Williams had vanished — because of his failure to make some engagements — and especially about a persistent rumor that he had been killed in a plane crash.

Deas told TheItem.com that Williams’ family was seeking an order from a probate judge to force Williams to have a mental evaluation. Sumter Probate Judge Dale Atkinson, however, said neither he nor any of his staff issued a pickup order for anyone by the name of Katt Williams, according to TheItem.com.

Will Smith's Son to Remake Karate Kid

By Us Magazine

Will Smith's son, Jaden, will appear in a remake of Karate Kid, written just for him.

The 10-year-old - who's currently a martial arts practitioner - starred with his dad in 2006's The Pursuit of Happyness.

See photos of child stars then and now.

The script, which is still being written, will be similar to the 1984 franchise, in which a bullied kid learns to stand up for himself with the help of his quirky karate coach, according to Variety.

But instead of Hawaii, the flick will be filmed in Beijing, China, in 2009. No release date is set.

Dad Will is to serve as producer.

The presidents of Columbia Pictures told Variety they wanted to resurrect the original film series, which starred Ralph Macchio. Hilary Swank appeared in 1994's The Next Karate Kid.

Jaden's next sci-fi drama, The Day the Earth Stood Still, hits theaters Dec. 12. It co-stars Keanu Reaves.

Mom Jada Pinkett Smith's animated movie, Madagascar 2, was the top earner at the box office over the weekend, raking in $63.5 million.

CONGRATULATION OBAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!

By CNN
As polls closed on the West coast, the Illinois senator was projected to receive enough electoral votes to pass the 270-vote threshold.

Obama is projected to win California, Washington, Oregon and Hawaii.

He also is projected to win Virginia, a state that hasn't voted for a Democratic president since 1964.

As Obama built up a commanding lead over Sen. John McCain, senior aides to the Arizona senator were growing pessimistic about his chances.

When asked if they saw a path to victory, two senior McCain aides said no.

CNN earlier projected that Obama will win Ohio, a key battleground state with 20 electoral votes

Obama and McCain vote

By NEDRA PICKLER

Republican John McCain and Democrat Barack Obama joined voters eager to cast ballots on Tuesday before making one last pitch for supporters to turn out for their historic presidential contest.

With voters standing in line at polling places around the country, many people didn't need a nudge.

"I'm stoked. This is a historic event," said Andrew Lind, a 28-year-old underwriter from Ventura, Calif., who wore a green Obama T-shirt.

Obama, accompanied by his wife and two daughters, turned in his ballot at his Chicago neighborhood precinct — "I voted," he told reporters, holding up a validation slip — and then headed to neighboring Indiana for a last-minute speech designed to prompt as many Democrats and independents as possible to vote in the Republican swing state.

"The journey ends," Obama told reporters, "but voting with my daughters, that was a big deal."

Def Jam Executive VP Shakir Stewart Commits Suicide

StreetCred.com can confirm that Executive VP at Def Jam, Shakir Stewart, committed suicide Saturday (November 1st) in Atlanta.

Stewart was 34 years-old. Reports say that he died from a self-inflicted gun shot wound to the head.

Island Def Jam Music Group released the following statement upon hearing news of the death:

"L.A. Reid and all of us at Island Def Jam Music Group are deeply saddened by the passing of our dear friend and colleague Shakir Stewart. Shakir was an amazing man in every sense of the word. A truly incredible friend and father who was an inspiration to not only our artists and employees, but to his family and the many people that had the privilege of counting him as a friend. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family at this very difficult time."

Stewart was promoted from his position as Senior VP, A&R of Def Jam Recordings to Executive VP back in June.

During his career, Stewart was responsible for the signings of such artists as Young Jeezy and Rick Ross.

At the time of his promotion, Antonio “L.A.” Reid released the following statement:

"The bold young management style that Shakir has established at Def Jam is one of the major reasons behind the label’s success today,” Ried said in a statement announcing Stewart’s promotion. “From his solid roots in music publishing, he has grown to master the world of hip hop and urban music.”
